Texas Women in Politics

Watch as three historians examine over 100 years of womens political engagement in Texas.

The Texas Women Making History Luncheon

In the Fall of 2017, TSHA hosted the Handbook of Texas Women Luncheon in the historic Driskill Hotel Ballroom in downtown Austin.

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who is currently in her thirteenth term representing the 30th Congressional District of Texas, was the keynote speaker. She has earned her reputation as a stateswoman dedicated to the improvement of U. S. foreign relations and policies, one who works tirelessly towards improving human rights across the globe.  Her acclaimed initiative, “A World of Women for World Peace”, has won national and international recognition.

All the funds raised through the luncheon support the Handbook of Texas Women project, and TSHA is forever grateful to our supporters for enabling us to continue this project and expand the scope of scholarship on Texas women’s history.
